In spite of not attaining my party’s nomination I can say unequivocally that these past 6 months have truly been a pleasure. I found myself surrounded by people who were not ashamed to display the love they felt for their country but also had the intestinal fortitude to stand up and do what is right. At this point, however, the political reality told me that it was right to step aside for the Republican/ Conservative nominee John Gomez. It was not easy for me to come to this decision but my own personal aspirations must come second to the cause. The cause which I refer to not only encompasses the defeat of Steve Israel but also reversing the progressive tidal wave which is leading our country to financial ruin.
I want to thank all my donors and volunteers; the unbridled enthusiasm they have shown me is something I will always remember. I also wish to sincerely congratulate John for his nomination and his spirited debate these past 45 days. John Gomez has shown himself to be a capable opponent who will lead our party to VICTORY in 2010!
